The CG-animated sequel Animal Crackers 2: The Next Batch has secured sales across multiple territories around the world through agency Iuvit Media Sales, which brokered the deals at the American Film Market in Los Angeles this week.
The sales include North America (Viva Pictures), Portugal (Cinemundo), Bulgaria, Croatia, Albania and Ex Yugoslavia (Blitz), CIS (Arna), the Middle East and North Africa (FrontRow), Turkey (Shyah Beyaz), Israel (Filmhouse) and Vietnam (Mockingbird).
The sequel to Animal Crackers, which released in 190 countries through Netflix in 2020, is currently in production in Spain and it is slated for a North America theatrical release in 2027 followed by a worldwide rollout.
Synopsis: Animal Crackers 2: The Next Batch follows Owen and Zoe as they temporarily leave the circus, and their daughter Mackenzie, in the hands of Chesterfield the Clown to chase a major cookie distribution deal. But when Mackenzie transforms into a monkey mid-performance and loses her magical cookie, the circus crew must embark on a wild quest to restore her true form and reunite the family.
The original Animal Crackers, which received critical praise for its humor, zippy animation and heartfelt message, featured an A-list voice cast including John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Danny DeVito, Ian McKellen and Sylvester Stallone.
Animal Crackers 2 is produced by Nestor F. Dennis and Josè David Diaz at Blue House Films (Spain) in participation with Viva Pictures (U.S.A.) and executive produced by Max Czertok at Iuvit Media Sales (Italy) — whose growing animation portfolio includes Cooper: A Tale of Tails and Under the Mystic Moon, and continues to represent international rights for the film — and executive producers John R. Fessler and Scott Huneryager.
Hampa Studio in Spain is set as the animation service studio for the film. The studio’s credits include animation titles such as Little Big Panda, Winx Club: The Magic Is Back, Giants: The Legend of Tombatossals and The Treasure of Barracuda.
